Seven years into building Classy, I was nearly fired as CEO.
We had hundreds of employees and tens of millions in revenue. From the outside, things looked successful.
But I had never actually been taught how to do the job of CEO.
I spent the next several years learning that job the hard way—figuring out what only the CEO can own, how to build a leadership team, create clarity, establish an operating rhythm, and architect a company that could scale.
I documented the lessons, frameworks, and systems along the way. They changed how I led and helped set Classy up for its eventual acquisition by GoFundMe.
